CBT Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Therapist

My name is Bernie and I’m a CBT psychotherapist and the founder of Serenitas CBT Counselling & Psychotherapy. I offer a warm, non‑judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings safely. My approach is collaborative and focused, helping you understand unhelpful patterns and develop practical tools to manage anxiety, low mood and stress so you can move towards a calmer, more fulfilling life.

Outside of therapy, I love to unwind with yoga, cosy evenings watching movies, and getting creative with crochet. I also enjoy long walks around nearby lochs, taking in the calm of the water and surrounding nature. These interests help me stay grounded and bring a sense of balance and presence into my work with clients.

Mission

Counseling Session

The goal at Serenitas CBT is to ease emotional suffering through empathy, non‑judgement, and a deep belief in each person’s capacity for transformation.

Inspired by the journey of the dragonfly (see logo) — emerging from still, shadowed waters into a life of lightness and freedom — we honour the courage it takes to grow, to shed old patterns, and to rise into clarity.

Through evidence‑based cognitive behavioural therapy and a compassionate therapeutic presence, we offer a space where individuals can feel seen, supported, and empowered to move toward calm, resilience and authentic inner peace.

Method

Counseling Session Interaction

My therapeutic method is rooted in evidence‑based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and supported by an integrative approach that adapts to the individual needs of each client. I recognise that no two people experience challenges in the same way, so our work together is shaped around what feels most meaningful and effective for you.

We begin by exploring the patterns of thought, emotion, and behaviour that may be contributing to your difficulties. From there, I draw on a range of therapeutic modalities — always chosen with care — to support your goals, your pace and your preferred way of working. This may include structured CBT techniques, reflective exploration, skills‑based strategies, or grounding practices that help you build resilience and clarity.

Throughout the process, I offer a steady, compassionate presence and a collaborative space where you can reflect openly, develop insight, and practise new ways of responding to life’s challenges. My aim is to support you in creating sustainable change and strengthening your overall emotional well‑being.

Is CBT Counselling for you?

Are you feeling overwhelmed or stuck, left behind, as though life is moving forward without you? Do your goals and aspirations feel increasingly out of reach?

Perhaps you’re experiencing symptoms of anxiety or depression, or finding yourself caught in patterns that feel difficult to change. You may be navigating relationship challenges — with a partner, family member, or friend — or coping with the impact of trauma, abuse, or controlling behaviour. You might be dealing with workplace burnout or institutional bullying and the emotional strain it brings.

Whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to face it alone. When you feel ready for change, taking the next step can open the door to healing, clarity, and a renewed sense of possibility.
